About

What’s this site all about?

Finding a better way to live life. Too often we allow our surroundings to determine our destination, without intentional thought. We all end up somewhere in life, but too few of us end up there on purpose.

Finding our purpose is difficult, maintaining the course takes countless daily choices to stay focused. Everything written on this site is about persevering in order to stay the course so we can finish the race of life, having lived a better life; a life of purpose.

I am a follower of Jesus. While I don’t always do that well, it’s what I’ve committed myself to. With that in mind, my life purpose is to honor and glorify God in all that I do.

Who’s behind this?

My name is Dustin DeJong. My wife, Lori and I, call Tucson, AZ home. We are blessed with three children, Peyton, Colby, and Jeremiah

Most of my youth was spent in Tucson, AZ where I attended high school and college. I later attended Hope International University (Fullerton, CA) with an emphasis in Christian Ministry.

While I grew up in a Christian home, my faith wasn’t always of the utmost importance. Though I was baptized at the age of 7, I drifted spiritually until my post-high school days. I knew what it meant to be a Christian but also knew my life was a series of masks. I had enough respect for Christianity to either embrace it or walk away. No longer could I straddle the fence. I embraced it. Being the all or nothing type, I chose to begin serving in any way possible. With my mother being on staff at the church we attended, I began to help out whenever I could. That turned into employment with the maintenance department on the nights and weekends while helping with the youth group when I could. I quickly developed a love for sharing life with people in the church and ministry, which has led me across the state of Arizona serving in Phoenix and Flagstaff before returning home to Tucson where I’m currently serving as a pastor at The Oasis.
